Z. A. Fabrication

Z. A. Fabrication sits out at Plot No. 31 on Canal Road in the Ambanagar area. It’s a decent sized spot for what we do. The road stays busy with trucks and bikes all day long. We spend most of our time out on the shop floor where the welding happens. It’s a noisy place, to be honest. There is always the sound of metal being cut or the hum of the welding machines going. The air smells like hot iron and burnt paint most of the time. We don't have any fancy office or air conditioning. We just have our workstations and the overhead fans that don't do much when it really gets hot outside. Being in Ambanagar, we get a lot of different types of work coming in from the nearby businesses and residents. Sometimes it’s a small repair on a gate and other times it is a big frame for a new building project. We just take the drawings or the verbal instructions and start cutting the steel to size. The floor is usually covered in scraps and dust, but we try to clear a path every evening before we lock up. It’s hard on the back and the hands, and you end up with a lot of small burns on your clothes by the end of the week. That is just how the job is. We are usually here from early morning until the sun starts to go down over the canal. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us going day in and day out.
