You’ll find us on Station Road in Sutarvad. We are right near the bus stand, which means it’s always busy with people coming and going. Working with salt is a bit different because it gets everywhere. The air has a bit of a sting to it, and the floor of our facility is always white with salt dust. We have big piles of salt that need to be weighed and put into bags. It’s a lot of physical labor, and our clothes usually end up looking pretty worn by the end of the shift. The sound of the buses pulling in and out is like a clock for us. We don't have a fancy office or air conditioning. It’s mostly open sheds and a small room for the books. We’ve been doing this for a long time, so we know the process by heart. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to dry the salt properly, and we just have to be patient and wait for the sun. We aren't a corporate giant; it’s just a local operation where we focus on getting the work done. People from the town know us, and we see the same faces every day. It’s a simple life, mostly spent moving bags and checking the quality of the crystals. When we lock up for the day, we’re usually pretty tired, but the work is honest and it keeps the business going. We just try to make sure the bags are filled correctly before the next truck arrives.
