Umama Handicrafts

Our shop, Umama Handicrafts, is located at House No-206 in Mohalla Chakli. We are right in the Sarai Karim area, which is quite an old part of the city. Most people find us by looking for the One Eye Building, which is a well-known landmark around here. It is a narrow walk to get to our door, but we have been here so long that we don't even think about it anymore. Inside, the rooms are small and filled with the materials we use for our crafts. We don't have a big sign or a fancy entrance. It is more like a home that turned into a workshop over time. My wife and our two neighbors do most of the detailed work while I handle the materials coming in. We don't use big machines that make a lot of noise. Most of what we do is done by hand with small tools. It takes longer that way, but it is the only way we know. The lighting isn't always the best, so we try to do the most difficult parts while the sun is still up. We don't have a website or a marketing person. Most of our customers are just people who heard about us from someone else in the mohalla. It is a quiet life, and we are happy to just keep making our things one at a time.
