Mahadev Rice & General Mills

Our place, Mahadev Rice & General Mills, sits right on Killi Kalan Road. We are pretty easy to find since we are close to the Punjab State Warehouse in the agricultural area of Ajitwal. Being surrounded by fields means we see the seasons change right outside our windows. When the harvest starts, the whole road gets crowded with tractor-trolleys full of grain. It can get pretty chaotic around here during those months. We have a big open space where we handle all the general milling work. The roof is corrugated metal, so it gets really loud when it rains hard. We have a few guys who have worked here for years and they know exactly how the machines sound when something is a bit off. We drink a lot of tea in the small office near the front entrance. It is not a polished office or anything, just a desk, some old chairs, and a lot of paperwork piled up. The dust from the rice gets everywhere, even if we clean every single day. Living and working in Ajitwal is quiet most of the time except for when the mill is running full speed. We are just a local business trying to keep up with the daily chores and making sure the grain is moved where it needs to go. Most of our neighbors are doing the same thing. It is hard work, but it is what we know.
