About Giandeep Rice & General Mills – Food & Beverages in Moga
We’ve been operating out of Nihal Singh Wala for a good while now. It’s a busy spot once the harvest starts coming in. You’ll see the tractor-trolleys lined up outside the gates early in the morning. We handle mostly rice but do some general milling too when there’s a need for it. The yard is usually full of activity, and honestly, it gets pretty dusty when the machines are at full tilt. That's just part of the job though. Most of the people working here are locals who have been with us through many seasons. We don't have a big front office or anything like that. Usually, you’ll just find someone in the shed checking the moisture or watching the belts. We spend a lot of time just keeping the equipment from breaking down because the harvest doesn't wait for anyone. It’s noisy and the hours get long during the winter months, but we just get on with it. Some days are smoother than others. We don't really do anything fancy here. We just take in the grain, process it, and send it out. It’s been the same routine for years. If you’re passing through town, you can’t really miss the place. We’re just regular folks doing the work that needs to be done. It’s not a glamorous life but it’s what we know. The machinery is loud and sometimes the power acts up, but we just wait it out and start again. There is always a layer of husk on the floor by noon.
