Sukhmeet Stone Supplier is located right by the Modak Station. We are on the Deh Road, very close to the Modi Kunj Dhaba. It’s a convenient spot because of the railway station being right there. We spend our days dealing with different kinds of stones. The noise from the trains becomes something you just get used to after a while. Most of the time, we are busy loading or unloading trucks. It’s heavy work and my hands are usually covered in grit. We supply stones to people building all sorts of things around here. Some days are slow and we just sit outside and watch the traffic go by the dhaba. Other days, we can’t keep up with the orders. We don’t have any fancy brochures. People just come in, look at the piles of stone in the yard, and decide what they want. It’s a very manual business. We have a few guys who help with the lifting. I’ve lived in this area for a long time, so I know where most of the stone comes from. We just try to keep a decent variety so folks have choices. The location is good because the road is wide enough for the big trucks to turn around. It’s a bit messy with all the stone dust, but that’s just how a stone yard looks. We’re just regular people trying to run a small business near the tracks and the station.
