Vasundhara Stone

Out here in Gram Sonpur, near Mirzapur, things move at a bit of a different pace. We are Vasundhara Stone, and our yard is right on the edge of the village. It is a quiet area until we start the machinery up in the morning. We have been working with the local stone for a long time now. My father started this and now we just keep it going as best as we can. We don't have an office in the city or anything like that. Everything happens right here on the ground. You can usually find us covered in white dust from the cutting process. We handle everything from the raw blocks to the finished slabs that get sent out on the local tractors and trucks. The soil around here is rocky, so we feel right at home with the materials we use. We have a few local men who help us with the heavy lifting and the loading. It’s hard on the back, but it's honest work. Sometimes we sit under the big neem tree near the entrance to have our lunch and talk about the news. We don't bother with much advertising because word of mouth in Mirzapur is usually enough to keep us busy. People know where we are if they need stone for a project. We just focus on what is right in front of us and try to make sure each batch is done properly before the next one starts.
