Upper Primary School

The Upper Primary School is located in a small area called Tetariya Khurd, which is part of the Jamalpur block in Mirzapur. It is a quiet place, far away from the bigger cities. The school building is simple, just a few rooms where the local children gather. Most of the kids walk here from their homes in the village, so they arrive with dusty shoes and a lot of energy. We don't have much in the way of equipment, just the basic benches and a few maps pinned to the walls. The days are usually spent going through the standard lessons. Since it is a primary school, there is a lot of reading aloud and writing on slates. The surroundings are mostly fields, so it feels very connected to the land. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, like when the heat is too much or the roads get muddy, but the school stays open as much as possible. We have a small staff, and everyone knows everyone else’s business, which is just how it is in a village. There is a lot of hand-written paperwork to do, and we keep everything in old metal cupboards. It is a basic life here in Mirzapur, focusing on the children and making sure they learn their numbers and letters. We don't have any grand plans, just the daily routine of bells, books, and making sure the children are looked after until it is time to go home.
