Raj Trading Co.

Our place, Raj Trading Co., is located in Mukeri Bazaar, which is a very old and crowded part of town. We are right opposite the Hanuman Mandir. You can hear the temple bells ringing all day long, especially in the mornings and evenings during the prayers. It’s a busy street and there’s always someone walking by or a bike trying to squeeze through the narrow gap. We deal with various goods and trade things that the local people need. The shop is full of sacks and boxes. Sometimes the smell of incense from the temple wafts inside while we are writing down orders. It’s a small space, so we have to be organized, though it doesn't always look like it to a stranger. There are papers and ledgers everywhere on the desk. My uncle used to run this place and he taught me how to talk to the suppliers. We get deliveries early in the morning before the bazaar gets too crowded for the trucks. It’s a lot of loading and unloading by hand. We know almost everyone on this block. If we run out of change, we just go to the next shop. It’s a real community feeling here. We don’t have big signs or anything like that. Just the name above the door and the goods stacked up high for everyone to see. We stay open until late because the bazaar stays lively long after the sun goes down. It's a lot of work but it's what we know.
