Bhavan S K D K Vidya Mandir

This school is situated out in Renukoot in the Sonebhadra district. It is a place where we spend our days with the local children from this part of Uttar Pradesh. The morning starts with everyone gathering for the assembly, and you can hear the voices carrying across the grounds. We have the usual classrooms with the wooden desks and blackboards that always seem to need a good cleaning. The building itself has been around for a while, and it shows its age in some spots, but it serves us well. During the break, the courtyard is full of noise and kids running around, which is how a school should be. We focus on the basic subjects and try to make sure everyone understands what they are reading. The teachers here live nearby, so we all know each other pretty well. It is a long walk for some of the students who come from the outskirts of Renukoot, but they show up anyway. We have a small area for sports, though it is mostly just dirt and some grass. In the winter, it gets quite cold in the mornings, so everyone wears their thick sweaters. We don't have fancy equipment, but we have enough books to go around. It is a simple life here, focused on the daily schedule and making sure the kids learn something new before they head home in the afternoon. The post office is nearby if we need to send anything out.
