Penna Cement

Our place is on Guntur Road in Damarcharla. The exact number is 6 2458-4, which is helpful because this road goes on forever and all the gates look the same. It is a dusty spot because of all the cement and the trucks moving in and out all day long. We have a big gate and a yard where the trailers park up to wait for their turn. The office is a small concrete building near the front where we handle the dispatch papers. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so we usually have a couple of fans running full blast. There is always a fine layer of white dust on everything, including the computers and the windows. We do not spend money on fancy decorations; we just have what we need to get the bags moved. The drivers are usually in a hurry, so it stays pretty hectic around here. We have a small water cooler that everyone uses, and that is about the only luxury we have. It is not a place for people who like to stay clean. We just focus on getting the trucks loaded and out on the highway as fast as possible. Most of us have been working on this stretch of Guntur Road for years and we know how the business goes. It is just plain, hard work in the sun and keeping the trucks moving.
