Furnico

We are over at Mirbazar Near Bharat Sevashram. Furnico is basically a big room full of wood and sawdust most of the time. We’ve been here for a good bit now. It’s a family thing, mostly. My dad started it and now I’m here every day too. We work on chairs, tables, and whatever else people need for their houses. The area around Bharat Sevashram is always moving, so there is plenty of noise outside. Inside, we just focus on the wood. We don’t have a flashy showroom. It’s more of a workshop where you can see us actually working. Sometimes the glue takes a long time to dry if it's raining. We use simple tools. Nothing too high-tech. If you want something that lasts, you just have to build it right the first time. We talk to the people who walk in. Most of them live just a few streets away. We don't do big fancy catalogs. You just come in, look at what we have, or tell us what you're thinking. It gets dusty in here, but that’s part of the job. We keep the doors open so a breeze comes through. It's a plain business. We just make furniture and try to be fair about it. Every day we sweep the floor and start over. It is honest work.
