Down at 84, Pg Nagar, you’ll find where we keep the Rajaganapathy Earth Movers gear. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but we like it that way because there’s more room for the heavy stuff. The gate at number 84 usually stays open during the day so the sun hits the old metal desks inside. We’ve got some spare parts piled up in the corner that we haven’t looked at in months. It’s a bit chaotic, but we manage. My brother and I started this because we knew how to handle the machinery. We don’t have a marketing department or anyone to write fancy emails. Usually, we just talk to people over the fence or on the phone. The ground here is mostly packed dirt, which turns into a bit of a mess when it rains in Pg Nagar. We just put on our boots and keep going. Some days are slow and we just sit around listening to the radio. Other days, everyone wants something at the same time. We don’t promise anything we can’t do. If the equipment is busy, it’s busy. We treat people like neighbors because mostly they are. It’s a simple setup with some old files and a lot of heavy iron. We’ve thought about painting the front, but we never seem to find the time between the actual jobs. It is just a regular local business trying to stay steady.
