Shree Krishna Brick Field

Shree Krishna Brick Field is situated at House No: Dh-31 in Pallavpuram, right near Phase 1. It’s a large open area because you need a lot of space for drying and firing bricks. When the wind picks up, the dust from the field goes everywhere, but that’s just part of the job. We spend most of our time outdoors. We aren't the type to sit in an office all day. The work is physically demanding, especially when we’re moving thousands of bricks by hand. We’ve had some equipment break down at the worst possible times, which is frustrating, but we usually find a way to fix it ourselves with what we have on hand. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We make bricks, and we sell them to people who are building houses or walls around the neighborhood. It’s a very old-fashioned kind of business. We’ve got some regulars who have been buying from us for a long time, and we’ve become friends with many of them. The days are long, especially in the summer when the heat is coming off the kilns, but there's a certain rhythm to the work that feels okay. We just try to keep the stacks tidy and make sure the deliveries go out when they are supposed to. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us grounded. We don't need much else besides a steady stream of work.
