Amit Confetionery

Amit Confetionery is tucked away on Ganga Nagar Road here in Meerut. We are very close to the Shani Mandir, so on Saturdays, the street gets quite busy with people coming for prayers. We mostly sell snacks and sweets, the kind of things that make kids happy when they come in after school. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. We’ve been here for a few years now and have become a bit of a landmark for people looking for the temple. The road outside has its ups and downs, sometimes it’s dusty and sometimes it’s muddy when it rains, but we stay open regardless. We spend most of our day chatting with the regulars who stop by for a quick treat or something to drink. It’s not a fancy confectionery with glass displays everywhere, just simple shelves and jars. We try to keep things fresh, which means we’re constantly checking dates and ordering new stock. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, so we usually sit near the fan and wait for the evening rush. We don't have any employees, just the family taking turns to sit at the counter. It’s a simple way to earn a living and we like being part of the Ganga Nagar neighborhood. Most people know us by name now, which is a nice feeling after all this time.
