Agarwal Tea Company

Our shop, Agarwal Tea Company, is right in the middle of Gupta Market. It’s number 11 if you’re looking for the door. Ghantaghar is always crowded, so it gets a bit noisy during the day. We’ve been operating out of this market space for a long time. It’s not a huge place, but it fits all the tea bags we need to store. My brother and I usually handle the customers who come in. Some days it’s just locals looking for their usual supply. Other times we get people from further out. The tea comes in large sacks and we have to move them around quite a bit. It keeps us on our feet. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just open up in the morning and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. There’s a lot of competition around here, but we just stick to what we do. The stairs up to the market can be a bit steep. Most people know us by name now. It’s a decent living. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. Just a tea business in a busy market. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we sit by the door. That’s just part of being here. We like the bustle of Ghantaghar. Even when it’s raining and the roof leaks a tiny bit, we just put a bucket down and keep going. It’s just how things are.
