We are located at Modan Mohan Roy’s place in the village of Jahalda. It’s a quiet corner of Midnapur where things move pretty slowly most days. We do engineering work, mostly fixing things or helping with local technical needs. It isn’t a big operation with lots of staff. Just a few of us here. The shop is tucked away, so people usually hear about us from their neighbors. We spend a lot of time with our tools, working on mechanical parts or trying to figure out why a piece of machinery stopped working. Sometimes we have to wait a few days for parts to arrive from the city. The road into the village can be a bit of a mess when it rains, so that slows things down too. We don't have a fancy lobby or any marketing people. It’s just us in our work clothes. Most of the day is spent handling phone calls or looking over drawings on a wooden table. We started this because we saw a need for these kinds of services around Jahalda. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. We don’t really do big advertisements. If someone has a problem, they just walk up to the gate. We take a look and see what we can do to help. It’s a practical way to live. We’ve got our routine down now and it works for us.
