Garhbeta Organic Private Limited is based out in the village of Radhanagar, near the Amlagora post office. Saidur Rahaman Khan is the one who looks after things here. This part of the country is very rural, and you’ll find us surrounded by trees and open fields. We work on organic farming, which in a place like Radhanagar, means going back to how things used to be done before everyone started using chemicals. It’s a lot of physical work. We don't have fancy office chairs; we usually sit on wooden stools or whatever is available. The office is really just a place to store seeds and keep our accounts in order. We spend most of the day outside, checking on the growth of the plants and dealing with whatever problems the insects or the weather bring that day. Amlagora is a quiet place, and news travels mostly by word of mouth. We know our neighbors and they know what we are doing with our organic patches. It isn't a fast-paced business. You can't hurry the plants, so we just have to be patient and do the work. The dust from the village roads gets into everything, but you get used to it after a while. We are just a local group of people trying to make a living from the land in a way that feels right to us.
