Out here in Makrampur Bazarnarayanghar, things move at a certain pace. Chak Makrampur Agro Trading Private Limited is located right in the market area. Kharagpur is the main hub near us but Midnapore is where we really belong. Working in agro trading means we are always looking at the crops and what the local farmers are bringing in. Our address is easy to find if you know the bazaar area. It gets very dusty during the summer months and when the rains come, the roads get a bit messy. But that is just part of living and working in West Bengal. We spend most of our time dealing with grains or whatever is in season. The office is just a simple room with some chairs and a desk where we keep the ledgers. We don't use many computers for the daily stuff, mostly just paper and pen for the records. It’s a family-run kind of thing even though we have the private limited name. People know us around here as the ones who stay late to finish the loading. You can hear the sounds of the market all day long while we work. Sometimes we sit outside and have tea while waiting for a delivery. It’s not a glamorous life but it’s what we know. We’ve been at this spot for a good number of years now and the community knows where to find us. We also have to keep an eye on the weather because it affects everything we do.
