Out here in Chandipur, life moves at its own pace. Advika Organic is based right at Aparna Paul’s house, which is pretty much the center of everything we do. Vill Chandipur is a small place, and everybody knows everyone else. We spend our days thinking about the soil and how to keep it clean. No one here is interested in using those heavy chemicals that ruin the ground for years. We just want to grow stuff that’s good to eat and doesn’t hurt the earth. It’s a lot of manual labor, to be honest. There’s a lot of weeding and watching over the plants to make sure they’re doing okay. The post office at Math Chandipur is just down the road, so we’re not totally cut off, but it feels like our own little world sometimes. We didn't start this to get rich or have our names in lights. It was just about having a better way to farm in our own village. Some seasons are better than others, that’s just how it goes with nature. We’ve had some tough times when the pests got too bad, but we figured it out together. It’s about being patient and listening to what the land is telling you. We’re just local people doing what we can with what we have right here in this 721659 area, day in and day out.
