Ed Oil Palm Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group is based in SC Colony at 1-13/1. We are all farmers who work with oil palm trees. It is a slow kind of farming because the trees take time to grow and fruit. We meet up at this small place to talk about the work and manage the collections. The colony is a quiet area, and most of us have known each other since we were kids. We don't have any big equipment here at the office, just a few chairs and a desk where we keep the registers. The fruit from the palms is heavy and it is messy work once you get into it. We spend most of our daylight hours out in the fields rather than sitting inside. When we are at 1-13/1, it is usually to figure out the transport or to wait for a delivery. We don’t use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just grow palms and try to make a living. It’s a practical way of life. Some days are better than others depending on the harvest. We share the workload and help each other out when someone falls behind. There is no boss in a suit here, just us in our regular clothes. We’ve been doing this for a long time now and it’s just become part of our daily routine in the colony. We just keep going.
