Sri Mallikarjuna Binny Modern Rice Mill /Shivaipally

Out here in Shivaipally, things move a bit slower than in the big cities, and that is just fine with us. Our rice mill has been a part of this landscape for a while now, standing right where the local roads meet. It is a modern mill, but the work is still very much tied to the seasons and the crops the local farmers bring in. When the harvest comes, the place gets incredibly loud and dusty with all the grain being processed, but that is the smell of a good season. We spend a lot of our time checking the moisture in the paddy and making sure the hulling machines are not grinding too hard. It is a lot of physical labor, moving heavy bags and keeping an eye on the output to make sure it looks right. We don't have a fancy office; most of our business happens right on the floor of the mill or out in the yard where the trucks pull in. People know us by name around Shivaipally, and they just pull up when they have a load ready. We just focus on keeping the machines running smoothly and making sure the farmers get their rice back in good condition. There is a lot of pride in seeing the grain go from raw paddy to clean rice, even if we end the day with dust in our hair and tired backs. It is just the way of life for us.
