St Xavier Public School

Our school, St Xavier Public School, sits along the Tata Main Road in Baddalima, which is part of the Mayurbhanj district. Being right on the main road makes it easy for the buses and the parents to reach us, though it does get a bit noisy with the trucks passing by at certain times of the day. The school building is a solid structure with many windows that look out over the surrounding area. We have a gate that stays shut during school hours, and a small area where the kids can run around during their lunch break. Every morning, the assembly happens in the open space, and you can hear the kids singing or reciting their prayers from quite a distance away. The classrooms are filled with the usual wooden benches and blackboards. We have teachers who have been with us for a long time, and they know most of the families in Baddalima quite well. It is a community feeling here, not a cold or formal one. The walls are decorated with charts and some drawings that the students made in their art classes. When the final bell rings in the afternoon, there is a big rush as everyone heads for the buses or waits for their parents. It is a very normal, busy school where the days follow a predictable pattern. We try to keep things orderly and make sure the children are actually focusing on their books when they are inside.
