Jiwatpuri Bricks Field

Out in Village Kaitholi, things move at their own pace. We’re located in Tehsil Mau Sadar, not far from the Sindhui Colony and the Kotwali Mau area. Jiwatpuri Bricks Field is basically just a large patch of land where we work the earth. It’s a bit of a drive from the main post office, but people find us easily enough because of the chimney. We have a lot of space out here, which is good because bricks take up a lot of room while they’re drying out in the sun. The village life is good, but the work is tough. We’re usually covered in mud by midday. Sometimes the wind blows the smoke toward the colony, but we try to keep things managed as best as we can. We’ve got local folks working here, some who’ve been with us since we started. We sit around near the kilns when the weather gets cold in the winter. It’s a nice heat then. In the summer, though, it’s a different story. You have to be careful with the sun. We don't have a big fancy office, just a small place to sit and keep the books. Most of the time we’re outside anyway. It’s a lot of checking the bricks for cracks and making sure the fire is just right. We’ve been part of the Kaitholi landscape for a while now, just another local business trying to make a living from the ground beneath our feet.
