Our place is on South Kandiyar Street, right in Idangankottai Melaiyur. If you know where the government school is, we are just a short walk from there. You can usually hear the kids playing during their break while we are stacking bricks or moving sand around. It’s a busy little corner of the village. We have piles of gravel and different kinds of stones sitting out front most of the time. It isn't a clean or quiet business. Your clothes get dirty pretty fast working here. We handle a lot of the basic stuff people need for building houses or fixing walls. People from the neighborhood just walk over when they need a few bags of something. We don't really have a big staff, just a few of us making sure the orders go out on the right carts or trucks. The street is narrow, so it gets a bit tight when we are unloading new supplies. We spend a lot of time just talking to the locals who pass by on their way to the school or the main road. It's a simple setup with a lot of heavy lifting. Sometimes we run out of things and have to wait for the next delivery to show up from the bigger towns. We just try to stay organized so we can find what someone is looking for without too much digging around in the back.
