Roopas Kids Play School

We are located on the first floor of Om Chambers, which is right on Car Street in Mangalore. This is a busy part of town, especially during the festival seasons when the street gets packed. Being on the first floor, we are a bit above the street noise, but you can still hear the temple bells and the traffic. The play school is basically a series of rooms filled with colorful mats, blocks, and toys that have been played with a thousand times. It smells a bit like floor cleaner and crayons most of the time. We spend our mornings greeting parents who are in a rush to get to work. The kids are a mix—some are excited and others are still rubbing sleep from their eyes. There are always a few shoes left in a messy pile near the entrance. We have some small tables and chairs where the children sit for their snacks. The walls are covered in drawings that the kids made themselves. It’s not a polished environment; there are scuff marks on the walls and some of the toy bins are cracked. But it’s a space where kids can just be themselves and learn a few things. The staff is mostly local women who know how to handle a crying child or a spilled drink. It’s a very practical setup in a convenient part of Mangalore for busy families.
