Deepa Academy

Deepa Academy has been a fixture on Car Street in Mangalore for some time. You can find us at Arathi Place, right across from where Corporation Bank is situated. It’s a busy part of town, so there is always something going on outside our windows. We opened this place to help out students and whoever else needs a bit of guidance with their studies. It isn't anything too formal. We have some rooms set up with benches and chairs. The building itself is older, which gives it a bit of character, though the salt air from being in Mangalore affects everything eventually. People usually find us by looking for the bank first. We keep regular hours, but sometimes we stay late if there is a lot of work to finish up. The staff here are mostly locals who grew up in the surrounding neighborhoods. We use simple tools and focus on the books. It gets quite loud during festival times on Car Street, which is just part of living here. We try to keep things organized, but on busy days, it can get a little crowded. We don't have any big corporate backing, it's just a local effort. If you walk down the street, you’ll likely see some of our students hanging out nearby. We like being in this part of Mangalore because everything is accessible. It’s just a normal place doing normal work every day.
