City General Store

This general store is right in the City Complex on the ground floor. We are on BEM HighSchool Road, which is part of the Car Street area here in Mangalore. Being so close to the Bem High School means we get a lot of kids coming in for things like notebooks or snacks. The shop is small and the shelves are usually packed right up to the ceiling with all sorts of stuff. We have everything from soap and matches to bags of rice and lentils. It gets a bit crowded when we have a few customers in at the same time because the aisles are narrow. We know most of the people who live in the apartments nearby. They stop by when they run out of milk or sugar. It is a local business and we don't have a big team, just a couple of us working the counter. The floor is a bit old and the lighting is just some basic tubes, but it works for what we need. We stay open until the evening when the street quiets down a bit. Car Street can be very busy during festival times and we see a lot of strangers then. Mostly though, it is just the same neighbors every day. We don't do any deliveries or anything like that. People just walk in, find what they need, and we have a quick chat while they pay. It is just our daily routine in Mangalore.
