Sriram Marble & Granite Centre

You can find us right on NH-17 in the Kulai Homakatte area. Being on the highway means we get a lot of dust from the passing trucks, but it makes it easy for our own transport to get in and out. We handle both marble and granite here at the centre. It is a fairly large space because we need room for the crane to move the heavy blocks. Some days the weather is quite humid, being so close to the coast, and that makes the work a bit tiring. We have a small office at the front where we keep the records. Most of our time is spent out in the yard though. We get all sorts of people coming in, from contractors to families just looking for a kitchen slab. We try to keep a decent variety so there is something for everyone. Sometimes a shipment comes in late and we have to stay after dark to finish unloading. It’s not a glamorous job, your clothes get dirty and your hands get rough from the stone. But we’ve been doing this for years and we know the material well. We just tell people what we have and they decide if it works for their budget. The tea shop next door is where we usually take our lunch break. It's a straightforward life running a stone yard on the main road. We don't have anything fancy here, just plenty of stone and hard work.
