Gururaghavendra Bricks

This is the yard for Gururaghavendra Bricks. You can find us over at Mr. Chandrashekhar’s place in Halebudanur village. We are right by the post office in the Mandya Taluka area. It is a fairly large bit of land where we keep the kilns. We have been here for a good number of years now. Most of our time is spent out in the open air. We don't have a fancy showroom. It is just rows and rows of bricks waiting to be fired or moved out. The Mandya heat can be tough in the summer, but it helps the drying process along. Chandrashekhar is usually around somewhere, either checking the wood for the fires or talking to the drivers. We have a few dogs that hang around the site too. It is a busy place in the mornings when the tractors arrive. We try to keep the piles organized but sometimes things get a bit cluttered when we have a big order going out. People from all over the district come here because they know we are always working. It’s a lot of physical labor, hauling the raw blocks and stacking them. We eat our lunch under the shade of the trees near the edge of the property. It is just a basic business that keeps us going. We don't need much more than the land and the clay we use.
