Pukhraj Herbal

Our place at 15 16 Industrial Area is pretty straightforward. It’s basically two plots merged into one workspace for Pukhraj Herbal. We don't have a fancy storefront or a glass entrance. It’s an industrial shed where we process herbal products. The floor is concrete and there are always bags of dried leaves and roots piled up in the corners. The air inside smells like earth and herbs, which is much better than the chemical smells from some of the other factories nearby. We have a small crew of people who help with the grinding and packing. It’s a lot of manual labor. We don't have air conditioning, so we keep the big sliding doors open to let the breeze in. In the winter it gets quite chilly, so we wear extra layers while we work. The Industrial Area isn't the prettiest place, but it's where the work happens. We have a small wooden table where we keep the logbooks and the phone. Most of our days are spent weighing things and sealing packets. We have a small stove in the corner to make tea for everyone in the afternoons. Sometimes the delivery trucks have trouble finding the right gate because the numbers aren't very clear on the wall. We just flag them down. It’s a simple, honest life and we don't try to make it sound like more than what it really is.
