Kisan Rice Mill

Kisan Rice Mill is located out in Palari and it is where we spend most of our waking hours. When the harvest season starts the whole place gets really crowded with trucks and tractors bringing in the raw paddy. It is a very dusty job and by the end of the day everything is covered in a thin layer of rice husks. We have been in Palari for quite a while so we know the local rhythms pretty well. The mill itself is loud and you have to yell sometimes just to be heard over the engines. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. Most of our time is spent on the floor making sure the grain is moving through the machines the right way. Some days are long especially when there is a lot of rice to get through before the rain starts. We just try to keep the machinery in good shape so it doesn't break down when we need it most. It is hard physical work but it feels good to see the bags of rice stacked up high in the warehouse. People around here know that if they need rice milling they can just come down to the mill and find us. We don't do much advertising because there isn't really a need for it in a place like Palari. Everyone just knows we are here by the sound of the mill running in the mornings and the smell of the grain.
