Royal Ice Cream

Over at 1-2-413 in Shanthinagar, we run Royal Ice Cream. It’s a cold place to work, mostly because of all the big chest freezers we have lined up. We spend our mornings checking the temperatures and making sure everything is frozen solid. There are always tubs of different flavors being moved around, and the smell of vanilla is usually hanging in the air. We supply a lot of the local carts and small shops in the V&M area. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, carrying those frozen tubs out to the delivery vans before the sun gets too high. Sometimes a freezer stops working in the middle of the night and we have to scramble to move everything so it doesn't melt. That’s the most stressful part of the job for sure. We don't have a fancy storefront where you can sit and eat. It’s more of a distribution spot where we keep things moving and stay organized. The floors are always a bit damp from the cleaning we do to keep things sanitary. In the winter things slow down quite a bit, but during the summer months, we can hardly keep up with the demand. It’s a simple business of keeping things cold and getting them to people who want a treat. We just keep our heads down, watch the thermometers, and get the orders out as fast as we can.
