You can find us over at 586/Viii in the Ilama Iqbal Colony. We are tucked right behind the main bus stand, so the sound of engines and people shouting for their stops is basically our background music all day. It’s a busy area and the dust from the road tends to drift into the workshop if we leave the doors open too long. Inside, the space is filled with the smell of raw materials and old wood. We have several workbenches that are cluttered with tools, scraps, and half-finished pieces. My brother and I usually start the day by clearing off the benches from the night before. There is never enough shelf space, so we end up stacking things on the floor in the corners. It is a bit of a maze sometimes. We have a small desk near the front where we keep the ledger and the phone, but most of our time is spent in the back where the actual work happens. The lighting isn't the best, so we have a few extra lamps plugged into extension cords that run across the ceiling. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, and we just sit outside on the steps and wait for it to come back on. It’s a simple life, mostly just working with our hands and trying to stay ahead of the orders that come in from the local distributors who stop by throughout the week.
