Pori Dresses

This is Pori Dresses and we operate out of Kamal Bagchi. It’s not a very big operation, just a small place where we focus on our daily work. The space is filled with fabrics and thread and the constant sound of sewing machines running. It’s usually just a couple of us working here most days. We don't have a big sign or anything fancy to draw people in. People who live around here know where we are and what we do. We spend a lot of time looking at patterns and trying to get things to fit just right. The lighting inside could be better, but we have some desk lamps that help us see the small details. Sometimes the scraps of cloth get all over the floor and we have to do a big cleanup at the end of every week. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We don't have many walk-in customers since we’re a bit tucked away in the neighborhood. Most of our work comes from regular orders that we’ve had for a long time. We try to keep things simple and just focus on finishing whatever is on the table that day. The neighborhood is friendly and we often chat with the neighbors while we take a quick tea break. It’s a very local feel here. We’ve been in Kamal Bagchi for quite some time now and it feels like home.
