G. L. Kundu & Sons Steels Private Limited is set up out on N.H. 34 in S.M. Pally. Being right on the highway makes it easy for the big trucks to get in and out, which is good because steel is heavy and hard to move. It’s a dusty place, honestly. Between the highway traffic and the metal being moved around, there’s always a layer of grime on everything. We have a yard where we keep the stock and a small office building for the staff. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear anything clean. We spend the day checking manifests, weighing loads, and making sure the cranes are working right. The noise of the trucks passing by is something you just get used to after a week or two. My sons and I run the place along with a few helpers who have been with us for years. We don't have a website that looks like a magazine. We just have our name on a big metal gate. People who need steel for building or manufacturing know where to find us. We keep the gates open early and close them when the sun goes down. It’s practical work. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a mess, but we just keep going. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there, we just want to make sure the steel we sell is exactly what the customer asked for. We get a lot of mud in the office when it pours.
