Banerjee Rice Pvt. Ltd. operates out of our family place, Banerjee Bari, in the Ukilpara area. We are near the P.S.- Kotwali, Postdist, right in the heart of the district. This business has been part of our family life for a long time now. We handle different kinds of rice and make sure they get out to the local markets and various shops. Working from a home like Banerjee Bari means the lines between work and life get blurred, but that is how we have always done it. My father started things off and now we just keep the wheels turning. The office is often full of samples and bags waiting to be moved. It gets busy during the harvest seasons especially. We spend a lot of time on the phone with farmers and transport people. It isn't a glossy corporate setup with glass walls or uniform desks. It’s more of a traditional space where we keep track of everything in old ledgers and on the computer now too. Being in Ukilpara, we are well-connected to the rest of the town. People know us as the rice folks around here. We don’t do much fancy advertising because the work speaks for itself through the quality of the grains we supply. It’s just us, the rice, and a lot of daily logistics to manage. We take it one day at a time and try to keep our suppliers and customers moving with what they need.
