Kks Fish Hatchery

Kks Fish Hatchery is tucked away in Vaniyambalam, which you get to by going via Postwandoor. It is a quiet place out here, dominated by the sound of water moving through the various tanks and ponds we have set up. Our lives mostly revolve around the fish, which means we are usually up before the sun to check on the oxygen levels and start the first feeding of the day. It is a wet and often messy job, and you won’t ever see us wearing fancy clothes because they’d just get ruined by the water and the feed. The hatchery isn't much to look at if you aren't into fish, but for us, it’s a constant cycle of breeding and watching the fry grow. We spend a lot of time cleaning out filters and making sure the water quality is exactly where it needs to be, otherwise, all our work goes to waste. Being in a place like Vaniyambalam means we are a bit far from the main towns, so it’s a peaceful way to live, even if the work is physically demanding. We don't really do much in the way of advertising or anything like that. Most people who need fish for their ponds or farms just know where to find us by asking around the Postwandoor area. It is a very hands-on kind of life, and we are usually too busy with the tanks to worry about much else besides the health of the fish.
