Neo Bakers Q

If you're around Malakpet and you pass by the Sohail Hotel, you'll see us right across the street at Shop No. 16-2-668/1. We're Neo Bakers Q. Most mornings it smells like yeast and sugar around here. We start the ovens way before the sun is up so the bread is ready for the early crowd. It's a small shop, so things can get a bit cramped when the delivery trucks arrive with flour sacks. We have shelves full of different items. Some are sweet, some are salty. We don't really have a big staff, just a few of us who know the recipes. The counter is usually covered in a bit of flour by the afternoon. We try to keep it clean, but it's hard when you're busy bagging rolls and cakes. Malakpet is always crowded, so there's always someone popping in for a quick snack. We have regulars who come in every single day for their usual order. It's nice to see the same faces. We don't do much advertising; people just know we're here because of the smell from the ovens. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff by lunchtime, which is frustrating, but that's how it goes. We just bake what we can and hope people like it. It's honest work and we like being part of the local street. The rain sometimes leaks through the front door but we just mop it up.
