In the village of Maholi, near the Hassanpur post office, you will find Devki Maiya Farmer Producer Company Limited. We operate out of Mohan Singh’s place—he’s Ram Saran’s son. It’s a local setup through and through. We don't have a big corporate office in the city because that wouldn't make sense for what we do. Our work is right here with the farmers and the fields. We spend our mornings and evenings talking about what’s growing and what the prices are doing. It is a collective effort, and everyone puts in what they can. Sometimes the meetings are just us sitting around on plastic chairs in the courtyard, figuring out the next steps for the season. It’s honest work, even if it’s tough sometimes when the rain doesn't come or the transport is late. We have a lot of respect for the land here in Maholi. People know Mohan Singh, so they know where to go when they need to talk about the company. We don't do much advertising or anything like that. Word of mouth is how most people find us. It’s just a group of us trying to make the farming life a bit more organized. We take things one day at a time and try to stay on top of the chores. It’s not a fast-paced life, but it’s steady, and we’re happy to be working in our own community like this.
