Shree Ram Masala Udyog

Our little place, Shree Ram Masala Udyog, is tucked away in Bhatapara. To be more specific, we are located in the Bajrang Ward area. The thing most people notice when they visit us is how close we are to the railway crossing. You can hear the trains rattling the windows almost every hour. It’s a sound you eventually stop noticing after working here for a while. We spend our time with masalas, so the whole building usually smells like ground pepper or turmeric. It’s a very basic setup. We have the machines for grinding and a small area for manual packing. This isn't some fancy industrial park with manicured lawns; it’s just a regular street where people live their lives and run small shops. We know almost everyone who passes by our door. Sometimes the railway gate stays down for a long time, and the cars and scooters pile up right outside. We just keep our heads down and work through the noise. The building is a bit old, with some cracks in the plaster, but it does the job. We start very early in the morning to beat the afternoon heat. By the time the sun is high, we are usually covered in a bit of dust and deep into the packing. There’s no big hierarchy here. We just make sure the work is finished before we close up for the evening and go home.
