Vasantha Mary Store

Vasantha Mary Store is at 4, Matcham Pillai Complex on Matha Kovil 1St Street in K Pudhur. We are very close to the R.C School, so you can imagine how it gets when the bell rings and all the children come running for small things like pencils or sweets. Madurai is always warm, and this street has its own rhythm that we have gotten used to. We've been at this spot for a long time now. The shop is small and packed with all sorts of things from soap to snacks. We spend a lot of time arranging the jars and making sure the packets aren't falling off the metal hangers. The building, Matcham Pillai Complex, is easy to find if you know the area. In the mornings, the air is a bit cooler and we start by sweeping the front step. Most of our customers are just neighbors who live in the houses around the school. They come in for a single thing they forgot to get at the big market. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the physical shop where you can hear the birds and the motorbikes outside. Sometimes it rains hard and we have to pull the plastic sheets down to keep the goods dry. It is a humble place and we don't try to make it look like something it isn't. We just open up and wait for whoever needs something that day.
