Sudha Store

Our shop is located on the Madurai Main Road in Vilangudi. It is pretty easy to find if you are heading through the Kamatchi Nagar area. We have been at No 117 for a good while now. It is a busy road, so there is always the constant sound of traffic and horns in the background. We sell groceries and various small household items. It is mostly a one-man show, though my cousin comes in during the evenings to help me out. We get a lot of people stopping by on their way home from their jobs in Madurai. They usually grab things like tea dust, matches, or cooking oil. The shelves are quite crowded because I try to fit in as many different brands as my customers ask for. Sometimes the floor gets a bit dusty from the road outside, so I am always sweeping. We do not have any fancy air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that hum all day long. I enjoy the rhythm of the day, seeing the regulars and hearing all the local gossip. It is a practical place for practical people. We do not use any fancy bags or anything. If someone happens to be short a few rupees, we just put it on their tab for the next time. That is just how things work in a neighborhood like this. We close up when it gets dark and the street lights come on. It is a standard local store.
