Star Shop is a small place in Nadaikkavu, which is under the Chathencode Post. It’s a quiet area, mostly filled with trees and small houses around the neighborhood. We’ve been here for a long time, and the shop is sort of a landmark for the locals who live nearby. We carry a bit of everything—some groceries, basic household items like soap, and whatever else people ask us to stock. The building is quite old and the wooden shelves have a bit of a sag to them, but they hold up the jars just fine. We don't have a computer system or anything modern; we just keep track of everything in a big ledger book with a red cover. In the evenings, people often stop by just to chat for a bit while they pick up their daily supplies. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else's name. We have a small radio that plays the local news or some old music throughout the day to keep us company. When it rains, which it does quite a lot in this part of the country, the sound on the tin roof is so loud we can hardly hear each other talk. We don't do any promotion or advertising at all. The shop is just there, and people come because it’s convenient for them. We keep the prices fair and the doors open from early morning until the sun finally goes down.
