Sri Venkateshwara Store

We are located at 26, Arasaradi, right on the Theni Main Road in Madurai. It’s a busy spot with all the buses and lorries going towards Theni. The heat here can be something else, especially in the afternoons. We keep the shop open early for the people going to work. You can find us near the Arasaradi junction. We sell all the basic things like rice, pulses, and spices. We also have some plastic items like jugs and containers hanging from the ceiling. It’s a bit of a jumble inside but we know where everything is. The counter is quite high and we have some stools for when our legs get tired. We don't have any air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that spin fast. The smell of the spices is quite strong in the mornings when we open the big bags. We get a lot of travelers stopping by for water or some snacks. We don't speak much fancy English, just enough to get the job done. Sometimes we run out of small change and have to give people chocolates instead. It’s a common thing here. We just keep working day after day. The road outside is always under some repair or the other. We just watch the world go by from behind our counter and wait for the next person to walk in.
