Senthil Store

If you head down to Sathamangalam and find your way to 8th Cross Street on Church Road, that’s where you’ll find Senthil Store. We are at number 211, right in the middle of Anna Nagar. It’s a quiet enough spot most of the time, though the mornings can get a bit hectic when people are heading to work. We’ve been operating out of this small space for a long time. The walls are lined with wooden shelves that we built ourselves years ago. They’re getting a bit worn now, but they hold the weight just fine. We sell a bit of everything that a household might run out of suddenly. Sugar, soap, tea leaves—things like that. The light inside isn’t the brightest, so we keep the front door wide open to let the sun in. Sometimes a stray dog will sit near the entrance for shade, and we don't mind much. We don't bother with fancy displays or big sales. People come here because we are close by and they know us. Dealing with the distributors is probably the hardest part of the job, especially when the truck can’t fit down the narrow street. We just carry the crates in by hand. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from dawn until we close up at night. Sathamangalam is home to us, and this store is just part of the landscape.
