Sekthavuthu General Shop

Out here on Sivakangai Road in Melur, things move at their own pace. Our shop is at number 157, and it’s been that way for quite a while. Madurai heat is something else, so the shade inside the shop is where we spend most of our time. We keep the usual things people in Melur need every day. You’ll find snacks, some toiletries, and basic groceries sitting on the wooden racks. We don’t have a big team or anything, just a couple of us making sure the stock is right. Sometimes the delivery guys are late, and we have to tell people to come back later. It’s a bit frustrating but that’s just part of running a shop on this road. The bus stop isn't too far, so we get a lot of people passing through who just want a cold drink or a pack of biscuits. The shelves are a bit old and they creak sometimes. We try to keep things organized, but on busy afternoons, it gets a little messy. It doesn’t matter much as long as we can find what the customer is asking for. We see the same school kids every morning and the same office workers every evening. It feels like a small community here. We just keep the door open and wait for the next person to walk in.
