S. Narayanan Store

You can find S. Narayanan Store right near the bus stand in Alanganallur. Being on the Madurai Main Road means we see a lot of people passing through every single day. It’s a loud and busy area, but the shop is where I feel most at home. I’ve lived in Madurai all my life, and running this store in Alanganallur is what I do. It’s a typical provision store. We sell the things people need for their daily cooking and household maintenance. There are sacks of grain, bottles of oil, and those small packets of shampoo and soap hanging from the ceiling. It’s a bit cramped inside because I try to fit as much as I can in there. People coming from the bus stand often pop in to grab something quickly before they head home. I try to be fast, but sometimes we end up talking about what’s happening in the town. The 625501 area is a good place to be. I don’t have a website or any fancy advertisements. People just know where I am. I spend my time talking to vendors and making sure I’m not running out of the basics. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady.
