Raja Store

My family has been around Melur for a long time. Our shop, Raja Store, is right on Madurai Main Road. If you are coming from the direction of the Indian Oil Petrol Bunk, we are very close by at No 6F. People usually stop here when they are heading into town or leaving towards Madurai for work. It’s just a regular place where we keep things folks need every day, like soap or snacks. I spend most of my mornings setting things up and sweeping the front before the sun gets too hot. Melur can get quite busy with all the traffic passing through, especially the big lorries. Sometimes the noise from the main road is a bit much, but we got used to it over the years. We try to keep the shelves stocked so nobody has to go too far for their basic stuff. It's not a big fancy place or anything. Just a small shop where we know most of the faces that walk in. Some days are slow, especially in the afternoon when everyone is resting from the heat, but it picks up again in the evening. We have been at this spot for a while now and the address is easy to find if you know where the petrol bunk is. We just open up early and stay until the lights on the street come on. Nothing too complicated about how we do things here. It's just a local shop for the neighborhood folks to use.
