Petichi Amman Stores

We’ve been here at Petichi Amman Stores for a long time now. Our shop sits right on Swamy Sannathi in Madurai, just across from the Amsavalli Hotel. If you know that area, you know it gets quite busy with people coming and going. It’s just a small place where we keep the things people in the neighborhood need every day. We open up early and stay until the evening. Most of our regulars are just folks living nearby or someone stopping by after visiting the temple area. We don’t really do anything fancy here. The shelves are packed with stuff, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what you’re looking for, but we usually have it tucked away somewhere. It gets a bit hot in the afternoons, especially during the summer months in Madurai, but we keep the fans going. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you’ll usually see one of us sitting behind the counter. We know most of the people who walk through the door by name. It’s just how things work around here. We try to keep the stock fresh and handle things as they come. There’s no big corporate office or anything like that, just us and the shop. Sometimes the deliveries arrive late and we have to move boxes around while customers are waiting, but everyone is patient. It’s just a normal part of life in the city. We’re glad to be a part of this street and help out where we can.
